Private and Confidential
by
Marion Ripley and Colin Blackhouse
Laura is delighted to have a new Australian penfriend. But following her first letter, she is disappointed by Malcolm's failure to reply. It is only when his sister makes contact that she understands - Malcolm is nearly blind and is going into hospital for an operation.
Laura also learns that at school her penfriend uses Braille. On researching the subject, Laura learns how to use Braille herself and soon she and Malcolm are communicating contentedly with each other - with the added bonus that no one else can understand their letters! The book includes an information spread about Braille and even a letter from Malcolm in Braille.
