Alex Rider Mission 7: Snakehead
by Anthony Horowitz
The latest instalment in the adventures of Alex Rider, in which he re-enters earthly events from outer space - and gets tangled up in ASIS (the Australian Secret Service) and an investigation into the criminal world of the Snakehead organisation in south-east Asia.
For boys, Horowitz’s juvenile James Bond is an attractive and engaging character, whose unlikely exploits may encourage reluctant readers towards the reading habit.
Alex has encountered relationship issues with girls in earlier adventures. Now he faces issues of loyalty, family history and relationships. Horowitz shows the gradual disintegration of the trust Alex placed in those around him, both professionally and personally, and the hard truth behind his father’s death.
Lively, entertaining and thoughtful early teenage reading.
