Platt's biography of Western Road, which runs from White City to the Hanger Lane gyratory, chronicles its construction in the 1920s through to its more recent partial demolition and dilapidated condition. Leadville won both the Somerset Maugham Award and the Mail on Sunday/John Llewellyn Rhys Prize for 2001.
