Lucky Star

by Cathy Cassidy

Mouse is a 14-year-old boy. He lives in a high-rise block where crime and drugs are rife and has been excluded from school because of his graffiti art.

Cat is a pretty, middle-class girl from the leafy suburbs who goes to a posh school and seems to have it all. They don't seem to have much in common.

However, they both love a little stray dog, Lucky, and they both have secrets and troubles they need to work through. Together they try to fight the drug dealers and criminals on Mouse's estate and improve life for the people who live there.

This is an uplifting, if slightly unrealistic, novel. Likeable characters with real-life problems overcome their difficulties with a positive attitude and community spirit.
