Leaving Poppy
by Kate Cann
Growing up with her deeply neurotic mother and half-sister Poppy has left Amber in desperate need of some freedom. Plucking up her courage she decides to defer her university place and take a gap year. Amber finds a room in a student house in Cornwall, gets a job and bonds with her friendly flatmates.
Despite her new-found happiness, Amber has a strange feeling about the house; she thinks she hears furniture moving at night and finds her belongings moved. The unexpected arrival of Poppy seems to exacerbate events and soon Amber realises that she has to take action as her sister becomes increasingly unhinged.
A modern-day gothic horror story, which mixes the creepy with teenage experiences of love and identity. Sure to be devoured by teenage girls.
