Doctor Miaow's Big Emergency

by

Sam Lloyd
Illustrator: Sam Lloyd

Already familiar from the Booktrust Early Years Award-winning Mr Pusskins, Lloyd now introduces us to Kiss-it-better Hospital, and its caring Doctor Miaow.

When Tom Cat falls out of a tree while chasing Mr Bird, he gets immediate and sympathetic attention. He also learns that bullying is unpleasant for both bully and victim, and determines to change his ways.

Books to reassure potential hospital patients are always welcome, and Lloyd's latest introduces very young readers to some of what might happen if they find themselves there.

Despite the overly restricted palette of colours, Lloyd also includes extra detail in her illustrations of the ward of animal patients, and the bird's-eye-view of the ambulance's journey, which will encourage close study of each spread.
