New Year's Eve 1975: Arturo Belano and Ulises Lima leave Mexico City in a hurry, in a borrowed white Chevrolet Impala. Their mission is one of poetry.
Leaders of a youthful literary movement they call Visceral Realism, they are hoping to track down an obscure Mexican poet of the 1930s, who disappeared into the desert, taking with her some of the great unpublished gems of Mexican literature.
But Belano and Lima are themselves hunted men, and their search for the past will end in violence, flight and permanent exile.
