Shadow Forest

by

Matt Haig
Illustrator: Sandy Nightingale

Samuel and Martha's parents are killed when a log falls on the family car. Traumatised, the children go to live with strange, sad Aunt Eda in Norway, close to a forest full of dangerous creatures. When Martha ignores Eda's warnings not to enter the forest, Samuel follows to try to bring her back. Feeling responsible for putting them both in danger, Aunt Eda must also venture into the forest to try and rescue them both.

Separated in the dark and magical forest, our protagonists face trolls, witches and truth pixies, but discover that all is not what it seems.

This fantasy story is both touching and humorous, and is sure to have wide appeal.

This book was brilliant. I loved how it had so many tense, exciting parts. It was very imaginative ! Thanks Matt Haig for writing this, and the sequel, The Runaway Troll.
