Sundae Girl

by Cathy Cassidy

All teenagers are embarrassed by their parents but Jude feels she has more reason than most to cringe when hers are around her in public. Although she loves her Dad to bits, turning up at parents' evening in his rhinestone-studded Elvis catsuit stretches even her loyalty to its limits.

Her Dad, however is the least of her worries when a recurring problem from her mother's past returns to disrupt her life again. Could the boy on rollerblades with the floppy fringe be the one to save the day and is there such a thing as a happy ending?

Tackling gritty issues such as alcoholism and dementia can be a tricky business but Cathy Cassidy carries it off with confidence retaining humour and sensitivity in a readable and worthwhile story.
