A Pocketful of Kisses

by

Angela McAllister
Illustrator: Sue Hellard

Digby the mole enjoys himself on his first day at school but isn't at all sure about going back for a second day. To help him along, his Mum blows kisses and puts them in his pocket so whenever he is worried, nervous or shy, he can use one to make him brave.

The scheme works wonderfully until Digby finds a hole in his pocket. All the kisses are gone and Digby is devastated but when he finds someone who is even more unsure than he is, he realises that real bravery comes from the inside.

A sensitive and knowing story with beautifully detailed illustrations, which will reassure children and parents alike about some of the worries associated with starting school.
