Each double page spread shows a young animal with its mother, discovering the world around it and learning about life. Images of the mother watching over her baby reinforce the message that mum is there to make sure baby is safe, and that she nurtures her young one. In potentially threatening situations, such as the forest or water, the animals emerge from a darker left into a bright, safe right-hand spread, dominated by the mother. Glowing colours suffuse the pages, with the rich blues, warm golds and browns enveloping animals and readers alike. Stunningly illustrated, this is a beautiful celebration of motherhood.
