Pretty Salma

Salma is sent off to market by her Granny, who warns her not to talk to any strangers.
With Granny's big straw basket on her head, Salma buys a giant watermelon, a rooster with crazy eyes and an ice-cold pink drink. But the basket is so heavy that she starts to feel a bit dizzy, and wanders into the wild side of town. There she gets talking to Mr Dog, who turns out to be not as friendly as he first seems!
This African story has a fairytale feel to it, and when Mr Dog turns up at Granny's house impersonating Salma, it becomes positively Little Red Riding Hood-esque.
The illustrations are full of energy and character, and it's an ideal book to read aloud with drama in the voice!
