The Pig Who Saved the World by Gryllus the Pig
by Paul Shipton
In the second instalment of The Grylliad, Gryllus the Pig is hoping to be returned to his true human form but a new threat to the universe and a mysterious prophecy, means his plans are put on hold while he helps to save the world once again.
Paul Shipton takes full advantage of the many opportunities for humour offered by an epic quest undertaken by a lazy, greedy, talking pig, a spotty teenage poet (Homer), and a former priestess with a hotline to the Gods (Sybil).
As the trio attempt to find out who is really trying to destroy the universe, they drop in on the Cyclops, take a trip to the Underworld and team up with Orpheus' singing head. Shipton brings ancient history to life in the most appealing way and may well teach youngsters more about Ancient Greece than any textbook could.
