A Tale of Two Kitties

by Liz Pichon

Fluffy and Scruffy are kittens true to their names: Fluffy is tidy, clean, and not keen to get her paws dirty; Scruffy is lazy, messy – in short, a slob cat.

These characters represent stereotypes of the extremes - of laid-back versus uptight behaviour and their associations with being fun or boring. It takes an infestation of impertinent mice to unify these feline opposites against a common foe and escape the straightjackets of their old habits.

Told largely through quirky vignettes featuring the stylishly drawn kittens, there is humorous contrast created with cartoon mice and speech bubbles. The style employs a mix of digital and manual techniques. An amusing look at not getting too stuck in our ways.
