by Tony Bradman
This introduction to writing fiction, targeted at Key Stage 2 English and Literacy pupils, is a very practical and clear guide full of advice and tips.
Tony Bradman, a highly successful writer, probably best known for his Dilly the Dinosaur series, outlines the techniques necessary for setting out a plot, building the characters and episodes, and establishing a beginning, a middle and an end.
He discusses pace and how to solve problems with plotting. It is full of useful suggestions, actual examples and work by both children and by established adult writers.
At the end there are some useful addresses and appropriate websites that will encourage pupils to do some research on their own. Useful both in the classroom or school library, and also for the individual enthusiastic pupil.
