The Worst Witch Saves The Day

by

Jill Murphy
Illustrator: Jill Murphy

Mildred Hubble returns for her third year at Miss Cackle's Academy for Witches, with her faithful (if not exactly broomstick friendly) cat Tabby at her side and a resolution not to be the Worst Witch in the year once again.

Mildred and her friends Maud and Enid are initially relieved to discover the ultra strict Miss Hardbroom will not be their form teacher this year. However, when her replacement, the squeaky voiced and mysterious Miss Granite arrives, they begin to wonder if something unusual is afoot ...

Despite having to contend with the spiteful Ethel Hallow and a hair growth spell that doesn't quite work, Mildred manages to save the day.

This is the first Worst Witch title in ten years and marks a welcome introduction to the series for a new generation of readers. Warmth and humour shine through this story and Murphy’s intricate illustrations are as delightful as ever.
