Candy

by Kevin Brooks

After a chance encounter outside King’s Cross station, Joe just cannot get Candy out of his head. He becomes obsessed with her and goes to extremes to meet her again but Candy’s world is bitter, violent and unimaginably dangerous. When he finally realises that the girl of his dreams is a drug addict and a prostitute, Joe is determined to help her escape the life which has imprisoned her, but the odds are stacked against them. They make a dramatic break for freedom but with Candy’s pimp Iggy and his cronies in hot pursuit, can they really get away?

A hard-hitting, gritty look at a way of life which is a reality for an alarming number of young girls. Brooks keeps you on the edge of your seat and skillfully builds tension as the novel progresses until it all explodes (literally) in a dramatic climax.
