A Hug for Humphrey

by

Steve Smallman
Illustrator: Tim Warnes

All the other toys in the nursery DO something: Milly Mouse squeaks, Teddy Edgar growls and Pip the Puppy wags his tail. But new toy, Humphrey, seems to have no special talent.

The other toys are sure there must be something he can do - he's furry and stripy, so perhaps he can fly like a bumblebee? The attempt at airborne adventure ends with a bump but happily Humphrey finally discovers what he can do – he can hug people, and he's the best in the nursery!

This pleasingly simple, reassuring story has large, clearly drawn colourful illustrations and Humphrey's stripy tummy is soft, furry and very strokeable. A comforting tale about finding the good thing in everyone to cheer feeling-small moments.
