All for One

Illustrator: Jill Murphy

Marlon wants to play with Basher, Boomps-a-daisy and Alligatina - but they don't seem all that keen on playing with him. Marlon's mum and gran help him put together some great costumes to fit in with the others' games, but by the time he's ready, they've always moved on to something else.

In the end, though, marlon thinks of something so splendid to do that it's the others' turn to ask him if they can play. This warm and cleverly observed book will appeal to anyone who's ever felt left out of things, and Jill Murphy's detailed and tactile pictures are wonderfully absorbing.
