Pirate Pete: A Change-the-Story Book

by

Nick Sharratt
Illustrator: Nick Sharratt

As Pirate Pete sails the sea in his pirate ship, he meets One-eyed Wanda and Captain Stubble, who guide him to a treasure chest containing... whatever the reader wants!

There are 30 cut-out shapes (including a doughnut, a spaceship, a crocodile and a mermaid) that can be inserted into slots on each page, so children will have endless fun creating their own imaginative tales.

Each cut-out shape has its name written on it, aiding word recognition for those just beginning to read.

There is much fun to be had with this interactive book and Sharratt's characteristic, vibrant illustrations fill every page. (Not suitable for children under 36 months, due to small parts.)

Nick liked drawing from an early age. 'When I was nine,' he says, 'a picture that I'd drawn at school was pinned up in the hall, and the husband of one of the teachers saw it and offered me five pounds to do a similar picture for him. That's when I decided I was going to be a professional artist one day! I nearly always drew in felt tip pens then, and I liked drawing big crowd scenes. I'd start in the bottom left-hand corner of the paper and just let the picture grow, telling myself stories about each of the characters in turn as I drew them.'
