Flash’s plane goes down in the desert, and he is discovered – injured and clutching an instant camera – by two children, Sutira and Olu, who take him back to their village.

When he takes a photograph of his two young saviours, the villagers are terrified that he has stolen their souls. Once they realise the children are safe, they hail the camera as magic and clamour to be in the next photograph.

Flash only has nine shots left and tries to advise the villagers on what they should photograph, but they have different priorities and he learns much about the community by immortalising the things they hold most dear. This highly original tale is both moving and engaging.
