Books we like: April 2013
Book of the month: The Crane Wife by Patrick Ness (Canongate)
Patrick Ness' first book for adults since 2005's short story collection Topics About Which I Know Nothing is 'witty, compassionate and beautifully-written'. It's a great new book from a great writer who we have been harping on and on about for years and years.
Elsewhere, debuts from Kate Worsley, Taiye Selasi and Marjorie Celona impress; Maggie O'Farrell effortlessly delivering a stonker, James Smythe chills with the horror of The Machine and we get swept away by Ruth Ozeki, Elizabeth Day and Kent Haruf, amongst others. It's a big week for books. Special mention this month goes to Mohsin Hamid for the excellent biting satire of How to Get Filthy Rich in Rising Asia.
Enjoy. It's a bumper month!
