Books we like: January 2013

Our book of the month: Tenth of December by George Saunders

George Saunders is back with more satire, dystopia and weird invented product names than you can shake a stick out. His brand of bizarre, funny short story says more about where America is as a country and who we are as a human race.

Elsewhere, we have the much-acclaimed Canadian writers Sheila Heti and Andrew Kaufman, a hipster and a nerd, bring difference treatises on life and art. We have a new novel, confusingly called First Novel from Nicholas Royle, all about the murky world of creative writing courses. Elsewhere, we have essays, non-fiction, graphic novels and a smattering of translated fiction to whet your appetite this January.
