These are the booklists of the starship Booktrust. It's mission: to inspire a love of books; to seek out the best sci-fi and dystopia books and to boldly recommend titles that no one has done before!

Before you head off on summer holiday this year, check out our travel memoir booklist. You might even find something set in the countery you're visiting that may even point the way to adventure and new experiences. This list is far from definitive, but will hopefully whet your appetite for far-off lands and distant locations.

Every year there are hundreds of debut novels published, and so many of them may pass us by unless they win prizes, or get picked up in the papers, or are adapted into films and on and on. We thought we'd put together a list of some of our favourite debut novels of recent times, from the sublime to the hilarious- from the mainstream to the literary, from short story collections to gritty urban tales.
