Booktime is the national free books programme for Reception-aged children in England and Wales. Booktime provides a free book pack for children to share and enjoy with their family and friends.

The programme encourages families to enjoy reading together for fun and for pleasure. The gift of a free book pack supports family engagement in shared reading at an important transition stage in children’s learning and development.

Booktime is run by independent charity Booktrust and Pearson, the world’s leading learning company. The programme was launched in 2006.
