Bookstart scheme in Croydon inspiring 1,000 more families to take the pledge

Sheila Randall, Bookstart Coordinator for Croydon, is confident her region can generate 1,000 extra pledges from families in the area. That's because they have started asking families to make their pledge during their free rhymetime and storytime events.

'These sessions take place in libraries and community settings most days across the local authority', Sheila told us. 'When we ask families to fill in the pledge cards at the end of the sessions, we have another opportunity to talk about good books to share, not just with toddlers, but with adults too. We have already found that more people fill in and return the pledge cards to us if we do it as part of the session.'

Nice one, Sheila and Bookstart in Croydon! Let us know when you've sent us back the thousand pledges and we'll give you another shout out on the blog.

How have you inspired others to take the Bookstart 20 pledge? Let us know in the comments, below.
