The Orange Prize for Fiction was founded in 1996 to celebrate the best novel written in English by a woman of any nationality.

Now in its thirteenth year, the prize – renamed the Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction in 2007 – continues this work. Since 2005, Orange has also recognised emerging talent with the Orange Broadband Award for New Writers.

The 2008 Orange Broadband Prize for Fiction was won by Rose Tremain for The Road Home (Chatto & Windus).

The 2008 Orange Broadband Award for New Writers was won by Joanna Kavenna for Inglorious (Faber)
