Bookbite is a new project from Booktrust for people over 60. Launched in early February 2010, the Bookbite website encourages people over 60 to discover new authors and genres, to try a range of creative writing activities and to interact with others online to share stories and book reviews.

The Bookbite website will include short stories, poetry, an online writing club and reading group, book lists, 'How to' guides, downloadable activity sheets, competitions and an Online Writer in Residence, author Gervase Phinn.

Bookbite is a partnership project. Our formal partners are WRVS and UK Online centres, both of whom are helping us to reach a diverse range of older people across England. Bookbite is funded by the Transformation Fund at the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills.

Whether you always have your nose in a book, or just flick through a local paper; whether ‘writing’ to you means writing short stories for grandchildren, keeping a diary or putting a thoughtful note in a greetings card, we are sure Bookbite will provide lots of exciting ideas to get you started.

Bookbite can offer:

  • Something to dip into for a quick read
  • Inspiration to write something from a letter to a story
  • Ideas to polish up some old skills – or to try something new
  • Information on where to find people who share your interest.
