Young Heroes: Inspirational Children from Around the World

At the age of ten, Maritza Morales Casanova had a dream: that the people of the Yucatan Peninsula would once again live in harmony with their natural environment, just as the Ancient Mayans had done.

After 20 years educating children and studying conservation, Maritza achieved her dream: the Ceiba Pentandra park opened in 2013, a place where children teach children about the care of the land.

Dylan Mahalingham, the founder of Lil’MDGs, knows that when children come together, they can make a world of difference. An organisation that encouraged children to get involved in meeting the UN’s Millennium Development Goals, Lil’MDGs raised $780,000 for the victims of the 2004 earthquake and tsunami in Southeast Asia and $10million to help people rebuild their homes after hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
